Zachary Meyer has forged a career defined by unwavering integrity and a commitment to public safety. Zach's mission has always been to protect and serve with tactical excellence, ensuring that every square mile of our county remains a bastion of security. With nearly 8 years of dedicated service to Gilpin County, Zach has had a variety of roles, including detentions, patrol, field training officer, and a member of the SWAT team. We believe in high-impact leadership that prioritizes the rule of law and the well-being of our citizens through proven results.
With 20 years of law enforcement experience, Wesley Jones has dedicated his career to protecting and serving the community. As a career law enforcement officer and SWAT team member, Wes has firsthand experience making tough decisions under pressure and leading in critical moments. He knows that public safety is a top priority—and that strong, engaged leadership is the key to keeping communities safe and secure.

The safety of our school and students is one of our top prioities. Under Zach's leadership, we will continuously update and implement key safety protocols. with heavy focus on the reunification process.

Zach is committed to strengthening the bond between our department and our citizens through mentorship initiatives and responsive leadership that truly hears the voice of the people.
Zach will ensure adherence to rigorous professional standards and continuous ethical and tactical training to ensure our department operates with complete transparency and confidence.
Zach is focused on prioritizing proactive patrolling and advanced crime-prevention technology to secure our neighborhoods and ensure the continuing safety of our citizens. Building trust and providing community engagement opportunities will be agressively pursued.
Fiscal integrity and conservative budgeting is a key priority. Zach will focus on optimizing department resources - cutting waste to ensure that every dollar is spent effectively on frontline safety and public protection.
Aggressively pursuing funding opportunities through federal and state grants is another important priority. We will provide a thoughtful , balanced approach to budgeting, staffing and capital expenditures.

Zachary Meyer
Zach Meyer has proudly called Gilpin County home for nearly 15 years and is running for Sheriff to protect the safety, values, and future of the community. In 2007, he met his wife, Krystal, and they were married in 2011. Together, they are raising three children who attend school in Gilpin County. In 2019, they founded Diamond ZK Cattle, built on hard work, accountability, and a deep respect for their way of life.
After graduating high school, Zach enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served with the Presidential Security Detail, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, and was deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. He later deployed to Afghanistan in combat operations. His military service instilled discipline, resilience, and the ability to lead under pressure, qualities he continues to bring to his service today.
Upon returning home, Zach remained committed to serving others by volunteering with the Central City Fire Department and Timberline Fire. For nearly a decade, he has served with the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in a variety of sworn positions, gaining firsthand experience in law enforcement and public safety.
Zach is deeply rooted in the community. He is actively involved in local events, schools, and family activities. He understands the challenges facing Gilpin County and is prepared to lead with strength, integrity, and accountability.
He is running for Sheriff to ensure the safety of Gilpin County residents, support law enforcement professionals, and uphold the values that make this community strong. From day one, Zach Meyer is ready to lead, serve, and protect.
Wesley Jones
Wesley Jones brings 20 years of law enforcement experience and a strong commitment to serving the Gilpin County community. He began his career in 2006 after graduating from the police academy, starting with the Park County Sheriff’s Office before joining the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in 2010.
Wesley has served in both the Detention and Patrol Divisions and was promoted to Sergeant in 2016. After one year in detentions, he transferred to patrol, where he continues to serve as a Patrol Sergeant leading deputies and managing critical operations in the field.
Throughout his career, Wesley has taken on key leadership roles, including overseeing hiring and recruiting, serving as Training Coordinator, and leading as the agency’s Defensive Tactics Instructor. He has also played an active role in the drone program and served as Team Leader for the combined SWAT team, ensuring deputies are well-trained and prepared to serve.
Wesley is dedicated to professionalism, accountability, and public trust. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Jeannie, of 14 years, and a proud father of two.
Wesley looks forward to continuing his service as Undersheriff alongside Sheriff Zachary Meyer, working to support deputies and serve the citizens and visitors of Gilpin County.
